Introduction
Boosting content delivery capacity amid rapid growth
A leading manufacturer of computer microprocessors, Intel now also provides solutions for cloud applications. This requires content writers to support platform architects and engineers in publishing high-quality, customer-facing documentation. A sharp increase in operations within Intel’s Internet of Things Group (IoTG) Technical Communications team created demand for additional skilled information developers. Altuent stepped in to augment their in-house capabilities, integrating seamlessly to deliver consistent, impactful content across multiple divisions.

The challenge
Deploying skilled technical writers who could hit the ground running
Intel’s IoTG Technical Communications team needed experienced information developers who could work directly with engineers across the business to deliver customer-facing product documentation. Content had to align with Intel’s strict standards and processes. Altuent was tasked with supplying experts who could operate independently, integrate quickly, and deliver consistent, high-quality output, reporting to the team manager.
“Altuent provided excellent support at a time when hiring full-time staff was restricted. They quickly mastered our tools and processes and interacted well with the engineering and architecture teams we support.”
Our approach
Seamless integration to enhance content production
Our information developers worked closely with several divisions, providing flexible support as needed. They were onsite whenever our client required them to be as the project progressed. Our people quickly adapted to Intel’s processes, utilising templates, style guides, and documentation standards supplied by the IOTG Technical Communications team.
While “on loan” to Intel, our writers delivered the following:
- Planning: We defined and scoped the product documentation requirements.
- Draft preparation: We wrote, edited, and formatted content, including graphics for the IOTG team.
- Documentation review: We initiated and oversaw shared document reviews and formal content reviews.
- Documentation updates: We supported the update process to free up valuable engineering time, which allowed the right skills to be deployed in the right areas.
- Publishing: We made the content available on the appropriate portal for customer access, while working within Intel’s document classification system.
- Customer access management: We coordinated closely with engineers to manage access and ensure seamless customer-facing documentation.
Leveraging our deep expertise and flexible approach, we were able to minimise disruptions, optimise resources, and deliver impactful outcomes for our client.
The results
Instant expertise and innovative content solutions
Our core impacts for the client included:
- Improved documentation quality and adherence to Intel standards
- A single point of contact for documentation-related queries, reducing complexity
- Freed engineering time by managing formatting, branding, review comments, and publishing processes
- Improved product documentation organisation on access portals
Our information developers consistently exceeded Intel’s quality expectations, achieving scores of 80 or higher on the tool used by our client to measure quality improvements. Feedback from engineers and developers was extremely positive, recognising the exemplary standard of the content and our proactive approach.
“Altuent provided exactly the type of independent, self-motivated resources we needed to support our development teams in Ireland and internationally. We were more than happy with the support they provided while on contract for Intel.”
